Sirius Minerals has been recognized as a top-performing participant in the 2025 AfCFTA Export Markets and Trade Enablement Programme delivered by the Expolink - Egyptian Exporters Association, further strengthening the company’s positioning within Africa’s evolving continental trade ecosystem.

The programme, supported by Afreximbank, was designed to equip African businesses with practical export readiness, cross-border trade, and market expansion capabilities under the framework of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

Sirius Minerals initially received sponsorship from Afreximbank to participate in the trade enablement training programme, joining entrepreneurs and businesses from across the continent focused on scaling African trade opportunities. Following completion of the programme, Sirius Minerals emerged as one of the Top 10 highest-performing participants representing South Africa, earning sponsorship to exhibit the Sirius-MTP™️ at the upcoming Intra-African Trade Fair 2025 in Algiers, Algeria.

The Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF), organized under the AfCFTA framework and led by Afreximbank in collaboration with the African Union Secretariat and trade bodies and strategic partners, is regarded as one of the continent’s largest trade and investment platforms. The event brings together governments, exporters, investors, financial institutions, manufacturers, and technology innovators from across Africa to accelerate intra-African trade and strengthen regional value chains.

Within the broader vision of the African Union and AfCFTA, IATF plays a strategic role in advancing the creation of a single African market by reducing trade fragmentation, encouraging regional industrialization, and increasing the movement of African goods and services across borders.

For Sirius Minerals, participation at IATF represents more than an exhibition opportunity - it reflects growing continental relevance for the Sirius Mineral Trade Platform (Sirius-MTP™️) as a digital infrastructure solution capable of supporting integrated mineral trade across Africa.

Sirius-MTP™️ is being developed to address longstanding inefficiencies within Africa’s artisanal and small-scale mining (ASM) sector by creating a connected end-to-end ecosystem for mineral verification, traceability, compliance support, and structured market access. Through digital onboarding, mineral testing integration, trade visibility, and cross-border marketplace functionality, the platform aims to connect fragmented mining communities into a more transparent continental trade network.

The company believes this aligns directly with AfCFTA’s broader ambition of creating a unified African economic space where African commodities can move more efficiently, competitively, and transparently between member states.

Strategically, Sirius-MTP™️ is positioning itself as part of a future digital corridor for minerals across Africa - one capable of linking miners, cooperatives, traders, processors, buyers, financial institutions, and governments through interoperable trade infrastructure.

This vision carries increasing importance as global demand rises for Africa’s critical minerals, many of which are essential for manufacturing, energy transition technologies, and industrial development. Sirius Minerals maintains that Africa’s opportunity lies not only in exporting raw resources, but in building systems that support transparency, local value addition, responsible sourcing, and eventually greater participation in processed and higher-value commodity markets.

The platform’s emphasis on traceability and verification is also intended to help address historical challenges surrounding exploitation, illicit mineral flows, informal trade practices, and lack of visibility within portions of the mining supply chain.

By leveraging digital infrastructure to organize and formalize trade participation, Sirius Minerals aims to contribute toward a future where African mineral resources generate broader economic inclusion, stronger regional trade integration, and increased confidence from global markets.

The recognition through the AfCFTA-aligned programme and subsequent participation at IATF Algeria further positions Sirius Minerals within a growing ecosystem of African companies building the infrastructure necessary for the continent’s next phase of industrial and trade transformation.
