Sirius Minerals Advances Continental Partnerships at IATF 2025 in Algiers

Sirius Minerals strengthened its continental trade and investment positioning through participation at the Intra-African Trade Fair 2025 held in Algiers, one of Africa’s largest and most influential trade and investment gatherings under the framework of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

Organized by Afreximbank in collaboration with the African Union and strategic partners, IATF is a large-scale multi-sector trade fair spanning approximately 10 days and bringing together governments, corporates, investors, SMEs, financial institutions, trade agencies, and innovators from across the continent and beyond.

The event has become a major platform for advancing intra-African trade, industrialization, investment flows, and regional value chains. Over the years, IATF has facilitated tens of billions of dollars in trade discussions, commercial agreements, and Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs), reinforcing its growing significance as a driver of continental economic integration under AfCFTA.

At the 2025 edition, Sirius Minerals showcased the latest operational prototype of the Sirius Mineral Trade Platform (Sirius-MTP™️) - the company’s final major prototype ahead of the anticipated launch of its upgraded platform version scheduled for June 2026.

The exhibition attracted interest from stakeholders across mining, trade, finance, and public sector institutions, particularly around the platform’s application in improving traceability, transparency, and structured market access within Africa’s artisanal and small-scale mining (ASM) sector.

One of the notable outcomes from the event included a series of high-level investor and strategic partnership engagements focused on scaling the Sirius-MTP™️ ecosystem across multiple African jurisdictions. Discussions centered around digital mineral trade infrastructure, mineral verification systems, commodity traceability, and regional expansion opportunities aligned with AfCFTA trade objectives.

Sirius Minerals also engaged with leadership representatives connected to the Bank of Zambia regarding the broader strategic role that digital mineral ecosystems may play in strengthening mineral market visibility, formal trade participation, and future commodity aggregation frameworks within Zambia’s mining economy.

In addition, the company held engagements with leadership from the SADC Mining Association, where discussions explored opportunities around regional collaboration, mining formalization, responsible sourcing, and the modernization of mineral trade systems across Southern Africa.

The IATF platform also provided Sirius Minerals with direct exposure to policymakers, export promotion agencies, commodity traders, logistics stakeholders, and financial institutions seeking scalable African-built solutions capable of supporting cross-border trade infrastructure.

According to Sirius Minerals, the event reinforced the growing continental appetite for technology-enabled systems that can improve trust, compliance, and efficiency across Africa’s mineral supply chains - particularly as demand for critical minerals continues to increase globally.

Participation at IATF further positioned Sirius-MTP™️ within broader conversations around Africa’s industrial future, including beneficiation, regional commodity value chains, responsible sourcing frameworks, and the transition from fragmented raw commodity exports toward more integrated and value-driven trade ecosystems.

The company noted that the exposure gained in Algiers represents an important step in building the partnerships, institutional relationships, and regional visibility required to scale Sirius-MTP™️ into a continental digital trade infrastructure platform capable of serving miners, governments, investors, and commodity markets across Africa.
